Nian Gao

Nian gao, Rice cake, Year cake or Chinese new year’s cake is a food prepared from glutinous rice. While it can be eaten all year round, traditionally it is most popular during Chinese New Year. It is considered good luck to eat nian gao during this time because “nian gao” is a homonym for “every year higher and higher.” 年糕 – 年高.

The following nian gao comes in lychee or topical fruit flavour. Can be eaten straight away on its own without deepfrying. 1 week notice for all orders.

    Bakingyummies,

Thank you for the great Nian Gao which I ordered for my sister. The design was your specialty, the ’13 wonders’. My sister who is a mahjong fan is so thrill with the gift during Chinese New Year. With the auspicious gift, my sister did have a ’13 wonders’ winning shortly. Thank you and I must admit that your Nian Gao design is the best I have seen.

    • Hi George,
Wow! I did not know that my creations have that kind of power to enable the person who received actually obtaining a ’13 Wonder’ hand. I am kind of a mahjong fan myself and really enjoy doing this design. Hope I will also get a such luck soon… cheers
